With the Olympics out of bounds to marketeers looking for inspiration for their summer campaigns (unless they are a sponsor), the Queen’s Jubilee has been just what the doctor ordered.

It’s not for this blog to argue the difference between a monarchy and a republic, but even the most hardened monarchist would agree with the most ardent republican, than some brands have taken Jubilee marketing (or Jubilee Balls as Private Eye would have it) much too far:
