The marketing and communications industry has a lot of false prophets. It is full of so-called gurus willing to preach their infinate wisdom to the highest bidder.
But for one charity, a guru just isn’t enough. They’ve gone one step further and secured funding from NESTA (a former ideas quango, now innovation charity) to hire a digital ‘Developer Evangelist’. Although at a salary from £28-£40k a year, this may below the day rate of some of the Silicon Roundabout‘s finest.
Have the digital gurus finally realised that our-world titles just aren’t enough? Let’s hope this doesn’t become a trend and lead to a PR Pope, Social Salafist, Gamification God or a Marketing Missionary.
